  • Talking with their children about the school day;

  • Reading to or with their children;

  • Monitoring and limiting their children’s technology usage;

  • Volunteering in the classroom and for school-related activities such as field trips;

  • Enrolling their children in extracurricular and age-appropriate, community-based, after-school activities.

What is Title I?

Title One is a federally funded program that provides supplemental help for students in reading and math. Teachers collaborate with Title One staff and the Title One Coordinator regarding student progress. The student will be assessed to determine need and provide help according to assessment results. Students in grades K-4 are identified using the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA), Word Analysis, Northwest Educational Assessment (NWEA), and AimsWeb Math Assessment.

Title One believes in student success and personalized instruction. Staff works with students in a one on one or small group setting to build comprehension, fluency, and decoding skills to improve reading skills and to support math instruction.

The Title I staff of MSAD 55 feels strongly that the best student learning happens through a partnership between school, home, and the community.

If you have questions, please call your child's teacher or Susan Ray, Title I Coordinator at sray@sad55.org or 625-8116.
